August 24, 2005 UPDATE:
I picked up Bunny today form the hospital. She has all the drains, catheters, stitches, and staples removed! She does urinate on her own. At present, she does have a very slight incontinence problem- a drop comes out every so often. I hope that as her muscles etc. strengthen this will improve. If not the worst case scenario is she will need to wear panties when she is somewhere that the drops will cause problems.
Bunny was as happy to see me, as I was to see her. She really needed that chicken biscuit that we stopped and got on the way to Chris's house today! Ha! She has been through so much and has lost a little weigh, but we will get that back on her fast now!
She had a great time checking out the toys and treats sent to her by her friend Jerri S. She wanted to eat “all” her treats and save none. Nevertheless, I talked her into saving some for later. Bunny wants to thank Jerri S for all the wonderful treats and toys. I am sure she will love her toy “Bunny” the best.
She slept all the way home and when she came in the kitchen; she seemed to know right where she was. She ran down the hallway right to the other pugs and found her bed! Dinner was served; and she and Ms. Vicki are now hanging out together.
Here is her current medical report.
She is on an antibiotic in preparation for her heartworm treatment. It seems the very latest info on heartworms indicates that they carry bacteria, which helps the worms to both invade and fight off treatment. This symbiotic relationship benefits both the worms and the bacteria, so now the thought is to give an antibiotic proven to kill the bacteria prior to the heartworm treatment…….. To really wipe the heartworms out!!
She will not need any further surgeries and her bowels now work correctly too. Therefore, Dr. Harling feels my goal of having her healthy and ready to go to her forever home at our picnic on October 22, 2005 is easily attainable!
Thanks to all who are supporting her in this fight! You are her heroes! Bunny is such a darling friendly pug, blissful, happy, and totally loving life! Her new parents will be very lucky to have her! More updates to come. Lana

August 24, 2005 UPDATE:
Bunny is a very happy loving furry kid. She gets along with everybody. She and Ms. Vicki hang out together and they seem to wag their tails in unison! HA! We will be starting the heartworm treatments in a couple of weeks. That will be a scary time. The meds necessary to kill them are very toxic. Lana
September 5, 2005 UPDATE:
With each passing day, Bunny was getting better, and was happy. However today, she started peeing blood, felt sick, not eating and the swelling of her behind had started again! Back to the doctor she goes. They put her on pain meds and were able to relieve the fluids. ONCE AGAIN; Bunny is back in the hospital. Chris
